Good Deed 14 is here!
Last month we were chatting to our Helpdesk Team Leader, Alex, when we found out that his mum, Nicola, along with her friends, Dee and Jo, had signed up to participate in the Great Manchester 10k Run.
The ladies, after being directly affected by cancer and having supported each other through some tough times, were taking on the 10k to fundraise for their local Maggie’s Centre.
Maggie’s is a wonderful charity that provides free practical and emotional support to people across the UK affected by cancer. Their cancer support specialists focus on the things that make a difference to those people, including financial worries, stress management and the side effects of cancer treatment.
After hearing the inspiring reason behind Nicola, Dee and Jo’s choice to run we were keen to support them and so donated £100 to their fundraiser for Maggie’s.
The run has now taken place and we’re delighted to share some pictures from the day!
The Great Manchester 10K Run
The 26th of May came around and in typical Manchester fashion, it was raining! But although the weather was miserable, the atmosphere in the city centre was certainly not. Everyone was in good spirits and the streets were buzzing as the runners warmed up for their 10k and families and friends watched from the sidelines.
Nicola, Dee and Jo headed to the start in their Maggie’s tops, adorning the Aspect IT sponsor logo – not before stopping to take a few pictures.
Of course, Alex was there to support his mum too.
Then it was time to run!
The trio set off, running down Portland Street and onto Chester Road, passing Old Trafford and the Imperial War Museum before heading back down towards Deansgate.
As they approached the finish line, the weather brightened up and in a brilliant 1h 6m Nicola had completed the 10k!
A huge well done to Nicola, Dee and Jo. Together they smashed the 10k and raised more than £600 for Maggie’s – incredible achievements that we are very proud to have supported for our 14th Good Deed.

A bit like Nicola, Dee and Jo, we’re also getting closer to the finish line. We’ve just 6 more Good Deeds to go before we reach our target of 20!
